The Château of Saint Saturnin is an imposing fortified castle built by the La Tour d'Auvergne family in the 13th century at the top of a fortified village. Its two most illustrious inhabitants, Catherine de' Medici and Margaret of Valois, gave it its place in history. Successive transformations up until the 17th century added touches of elegance and brightness to the château and embellished it with beautiful gardens that look out onto a remarkable and preserved landscape. Since 1987, major restoration work is beeing carried out on the buildings and gardens. Now the château is opening its doors to you. We would be delighted to welcome you for a stay, a family event, a work function, or even just a guided tour.

During the hot season, the thickness of the walls offers natural coolness, without the inconveniences of air conditionning.

GUESTROOMS

The five charming suites and guestrooms are located in the oldest part of this historic 13th century dwelling with its many towers, and which is inhabited by its owners. In the 17th century, a storey was removed in order to create more space and fit large windows, in keeping with a new art of living.

GUIDED TOURS

 The visit aims to unveil the historical context of the castle through the major figureheads who have left their mark on it and explain the architecture of this typically medieval fortress and its successive transformations, in particular during the Renaissance.
